Gandhinagar: Over 1.31 lakh students have been admitted in schools in the first two days of the three-day Kanya Kelavani and Praveshotsav drive by Gujarat govt. On the second day of the enrolment drive on Wednesday, ministers and officials visited 8,173 villages and admitted students in 11,987 schools, govt said.An official statement said that over the past two days, the campaign has covered 17,338 villages and reached 24,716 schools across the state, resulting in the enrolment of more than 1.31 lakh students.During the campaign, citizens made contributions worth Rs 9.19 crore for educational purposes. The statement said that people contributed Rs 1.24 crore in cash and educational materials worth Rs 7.95 crore were gifted to schools in the past two days.Children who are above 5 years and below 6 years of age as on June 1 will be admitted to kindergarten, while children who are above 6 years and below 7 years of age as on June 1 will be admitted to Class 1. In addition, students who have passed Class 8 (primary) will be admitted to Class 9 (secondary), and students who have passed Class 10 (secondary) will be admitted to Class 11 (higher secondary).
