Zurich Insurance opens GCC in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Zurich Insurance Group on Wednesday opened its new global capability centre in Hyderabad, expanding its technology and artificial intelligence operations as part of a broader push to modernise insurance services. The company alsoThe company said the facility will serve as a strategic extension of its global operating model, taking end-to-end responsibility across engineering, data and core business operations.Zurich said AI-enabled ways of working will be embedded from the outset, shaping how solutions are designed, delivered and scaled across the group.Zurich also announced the appointment of Amit Kalra as head of Zurich Capability Centres, effective July 1, 2026.Based in India, Kalra will lead the group’s capability centre strategy worldwide and oversee the establishment and growth of the Hyderabad hub.Cara Morton, CEO of Zurich Global Businesses & Operations, said India remains a key talent market for the insurer, with Hyderabad offering strong engineering expertise and innovation.The Hyderabad centre has been designed to help Zurich build modern technology and AI-led capabilities without legacy constraints, it said, adding that the company plans to hire specialists in cloud and platform engineering, data and AI, application development, cybersecurity and quality engineering.Zurich said teams in Hyderabad will manage the full lifecycle of solutions, from design and build to execution, while contributing directly to global platforms and customer-focused services.
