NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said the licence of a vendor operating a medical store at a government hospital in Dwarka has been cancelled after staff allegedly refused to provide medicines to patients and attendants. The action came a day after the issue was brought to the chief minister’s notice through a video circulating on social media, according to news agency PTI.Stressing that public service cannot be compromised, Gupta said there would be zero tolerance for negligence, indifference or misuse of authority in Delhi. She said all public-facing institutions are meant to serve citizens and not create inconvenience for them.“The licence of the concerned medical store stands cancelled with immediate effect. Those who deny citizens their rightful services, defy lawful directions or display arrogance towards the public will face the full force of the law,” she said in a post on X.On Monday, Gupta had assured strict action against the vendor operating the Jan Aushadhi Kendra at the government hospital in Dwarka after allegations that medicines were not being supplied to people visiting the facility. In her post, the chief minister shared a video in which a person alleged that staff at the medical store were refusing to provide medicines to patients and their attendants.Gupta described such conduct in public services as unacceptable and said action would be taken against the vendor.“Refusing to provide something as essential as medicine because the floor is being mopped is simply unacceptable. This reel was widely shared with me, and many people tagged me in it. In the video, the individual says, ‘go and complain to anyone you want’,” the chief minister’s post read.
