Margao: Leader of opposition Yuri Alemao has written to the governor demanding that the monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly be convened for at least 15 days. Alemao pointed to unresolved issues such as the Karapur-Sarvan matter, damage caused by Section 39-A of the TCP Act, unemployment, law and order, inflation and student concerns as needing urgent debate.He recalled that the 13th session of the last assembly was curtailed after just seven sittings in March, citing the Ponda by-polls and model code of conduct — a justification he called unacceptable. Alemao said the truncated session denied the opposition a chance to raise pressing public issues and left crucial bills on land, environment and demography unaddressed.
