Chandigarh: A young man was allegedly shot dead in Subana village of Jhajjar district late Tuesday evening in an incident believed to be linked to an old rivalry, the police said. The deceased was identified as Hitesh alias Gullu, a resident of the village. According to reports, Hitesh was standing outside his house when 3 to 4 unidentified youths arrived in a Bolero vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire on him. Witnesses claimed that the assailants fired more than 20 rounds before fleeing the scene. Hitesh sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.Initial investigation suggests that the murder may have stemmed from an old dispute between the deceased and the accused. Sources said that around two years ago, a clash reportedly took place between both sides, and the latest attack is suspected to be connected to that rivalry.Following the incident, panic spread across the village, and local residents informed the police. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s family members, police registered a case and named two youths from Girdharpur village among the accused, while efforts are underway to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.Police shifted the body to the mortuary for post-mortem examination and launched an investigation into the case.
