Navi Mumbai: Police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his 23-year-old son to death at their residence in Lohare Deulkond village near Raigad’s Poladpur city when the latter intervened in a domestic quarrel between his parents on Tuesday.Poladpur police registered a murder case against Sachin Chikane (46), an alleged alcoholic who did petty jobs for a living, based on a complaint by his wife Sandhya (40). Police tracked his mobile tower location and apprehended him in Mahad city on Mumbai-Goa highway service road on Wednesday.API Vijay Surve of Poladpur police said, “As per the complainant, on Tuesday morning, she and her husband had gone to Poladpur city to buy groceries and other household items. When she went to buy milk, Sachin left without informing her. As she could not find him outside the shop, she returned home. An angry Sachin, who had already reached home, questioned Sandhya why she did not come to the bus depot and returned home alone.”Sachin then went to the kitchen, hurling abuses at Sandhya, her two sons, including the victim Sai (23), her daughter and a cousin who were sitting in the living room, the FIR stated. Sachin’s eldest son works in Mumbai.Surve added, “Sai followed his father into the kitchen and tried to pacify him, but Sachin targeted him too. Sachin allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Sai in the chest and slashed his right palm and left wrist. Sandhya, her other children and cousin brother rushed the severely injured Sai to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. By then Sachin had fled.”On Wednesday, Sachin was produced before the Mahad JMFC court that remanded him to police custody till Sept 28.
