Varanasi: Ahead of chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s two-day visit to Varanasi from July 7, the municipal corporation has gone into full alert mode, intensifying sanitation, anti-encroachment and beautification drives along the CM’s proposed and emergency routes.On the instructions of municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal, sanitation workers have been deployed in three shifts on VIP routes to ensure the roads remain clean and free of dust. To facilitate the smooth movement of the CM’s convoy and maintain traffic flow, municipal corporation teams are also removing stray cattle and free-roaming animals from the roads and shifting them to temporary shelter homes.The enforcement squad is carrying out a strict anti-encroachment drive along the convoy routes, with roadside carts, kiosks and street vendors being relocated or regulated to keep the roads clear.The street lighting department has also been put on alert and has been directed to ensure that all streetlights and high-mast lights along the route remain fully functional. Simultaneously, damaged road stretches are being repaired, while dividers are being painted and beautification work is being carried out on a war footing.Nagpal has warned all zonal officers and sanitation inspectors that any negligence during Yogi’s visit will invite strict disciplinary action.
