Dibrugarh: Sivasagar’s month-long flood distress drew support from wrestling legend The Great Khali, who arrived in Assam to aid affected families.Wrestling legend The Great Khali, whose real name is Dalip Singh Rana, arrived at Dibrugarh Airport on Thursday and travelled nearly 80 km by road to flood-hit Sivasagar.In collaboration with True Hope Foundation, Assam Youth Action Network (AYAN), and Deeplina Deka Foundation, Khali will distribute beds, mattresses, pillows, water filters, and other essentials to more than 400 flood-affected families in the Dorika area.His visit came as Sivasagar’s flood situation reached its one-month mark on Wednesday. The crisis began on July 19, displacing thousands and damaging homes.“The only purpose of coming here is to provide support to the flood-affected people. I want to urge all other celebrities in India to come forward as well. Before being celebrities, we are human beings. If a person cannot be of use to another human being, what is the point of being a celebrity? I felt it was my duty to come,” he said.Khali added that his two-day visit could motivate others to help. “Even if not for long, we can spare a day or two to join and support, which provides motivation. My visit is for two days, today and tomorrow. If called again, I will come back,” he said.He also appealed to celebrities across the country to support flood victims despite their busy schedules.
