Gurgaon: MCG employees staged a protest at the corporation headquarters on Friday, alleging administrative high-handedness by MCG commissioner and demanding implementation of agreements reached with Haryana govt.The union said that, following their strike from May 1 to May 14, an agreement with Haryana govt provides for 946 of the 3,480 affected sanitation workers in Gurgaon to be added to the corporation’s rolls. The remaining 2,534 workers are to be accommodated under the Haryana Rojgar Kaushal Nigam. The union alleged that, despite govt issuing an implementation letter on June 12, the corporation has not taken action.“We have received their demand letter and will hold a meeting with them to discuss their issues,” said an MCG official.Warning of intensified protests, union leaders said that if govt does not issue formal orders on the agreed demands by June 30, they will stage protests during lunch hours on July 1 and 2. They said workers would carry inverted brooms and black flags through major markets and roads in Gurgaon to protest what they described as govt’s failure to honour its commitments.Union leaders also claimed that salaries for the 14-day strike period, which they said were to be treated as leave due, have not yet been released. They further alleged that sanitation workers’ uniform allowances and several other pending demands remain unresolved, leading to growing dissatisfaction among employees.The union demanded that the civic body hold talks with employee representatives at the earliest, resolve all pending issues within a week, and discontinue the solid waste management portal, which mandates that these workers’ attendance be recorded through the portal and that payments be made accordingly. Representatives of the fire department employees union and the Sarv Karmchari Sangh also addressed the gathering, showing support for the employees’ demands.
