Rajkot: A migrant worker was killed in an industrial accident at an engineering unit near Bharudi village on National Highway 27 in Gondal taluka of Rajkot district on Friday.The deceased, Omkarpal, died after being run over by a crane while assisting in shifting iron rods at the unit. He lost balance and fell as the crane was allegedly being operated recklessly, and its front tyre crushed his legs and abdomen, causing fatal injuries.Omkarpal was working at the unit along with his uncle Hariprasad Gadariya, who later lodged a complaint at Gondal taluka police station. Both are natives of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh.According to the FIR, the incident occurred around 1.30pm after the workers returned from lunch. He was walking alongside the moving crane while holding the load to keep it balanced when the accident occurred.He was rushed to Gondal government hospital, where he was declared dead.Police have booked the crane driver under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 177 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
