Gurgaon: A 45-year-old construction worker was crushed to death while carrying steel rods when a pickup truck ran over him while reversing at a construction site in Malibu Town, Sector 42, on Sunday evening.The labourer, Mohammad Ashfaq, was working at the site where basement excavation had been completed. “Steel rods and gravel were being brought to the site for the ongoing construction work. Ashfaq sustained critical injuries and died on the spot,” a police officer said.Ashfaq was from Bihar and had been living in Wazirabad, Gurgaon. He was the sole earning member of a family of seven, according to his relatives. He is survived by his wife and five children.Police handed over Ashfaq’s body to his family Monday after postmortem. Based on a complaint filed by his brother, an FIR was registered against the pickup driver for rash driving and death by negligence under BNS at Sadar police station.
