Varanasi: A 23-year-old woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old son were found hanging inside their house in Hanumanpur under Mughalsarai Kotwali police limits of Chandauli district on Friday night. Police have sent the bodies for postmortem and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the deaths.The incident came to light when the woman’s husband, Ajay Kumar Patel, returned home from the market around 8pm. Finding the room locked from inside, he looked through the window and allegedly saw his wife, Priya Patel, hanging from the ceiling fan with their son. Neighbours broke open the door and rushed the two to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared them dead.According to family members, Priya had returned from her parental home in Mirzapur a day earlier. On the day of the incident, Ajay’s parents had gone to their village for farming work, while everything reportedly remained normal until he left for the market after his wife asked him to bring mango juice for their son.Mughalsarai Kotwali police reached the spot, collected evidence and said all angles are being investigated.
