Woman poses as customer, steals gold at shop

Chennai: A woman who posed as a customer stole 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a jewellery shop in Vyasarpadi, over a period of four months. Police registered a case and launched a search for the woman and her two sons, who were captured on CCTV fleeing the scene in a car.The complainant, Ankush, 33, has been running Madan Jewellery in Vyasarpadi for the past 14 years.According to the complaint, the woman, who wore a burqa, visited the shop repeatedly over the past four months, pretending to be interested in purchasing jewellery. During these visits, she stole gold jewellery in small quantities without attracting attention.Two days ago, while reviewing the shop’s stock with its sales records, Ankush found that the gold jewellery was missing. He then reviewed the shop’s CCTV footage, which showed the woman stealing jewellery during multiple visits and escaping in a car with two men, who were identified as her sons, waiting outside.Based on Ankush’s complaint, the MKB Nagar police registered a case and began an investigation.
