Gurgaon: A 27-year-old woman was found dead inside a rented flat in Faridabad’s Sector 45 on Wednesday night, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws.Police have registered an FIR on the complaint of the deceased’s father, Ajit Singh. The woman, Seema, was a native of Ullawas village in Gurgaon.According to police, Seema’s husband, Praveen, informed authorities that she had hanged herself inside a locked room. Police received information about the incident around 11 pm and reached the couple’s rented accommodation in Sarvome Homes society.“The couple got married two years ago. The husband’s family is originally from Ribar village in Palwal and was residing in Sector 21C. The woman’s family said that she was being harassed by her husband and in-laws since the marriage,” an officer said.The complainant also alleged that the accused had been demanding Rs 50 lakh from Seema and her family.According to police, Praveen told investigators that the couple had argued over an issue before Seema went into her room. When she did not respond for a long time, he looked through a window and found her hanging from a ceiling fan.Following the incident, members of Seema’s family reached the society and accused her husband and in-laws of murdering her. Additional police personnel and a crime branch team were deployed after tensions escalated at the spot.“The matter will be investigated thoroughly. An FIR has been registered at Surajkund police station under Sections 80 (dowry death) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS against the husband, his mother, father and uncle. Further action will be taken based on the investigation,” an officer said.
