Hyderabad: A 35-year-old woman from the Netherlands approached the Gachibowli police, alleging that her boyfriend’s roommate had misbehaved with her and subjected her to sexual misconduct.Although the incidents allegedly occurred in March, she lodged a complaint only a few days ago after visiting the police station. She also informed the Dutch Embassy about the ordeal. In March, she had come to Hyderabad to meet her boyfriend, a resident of Kondapur.The flat where her boyfriend lived was shared with another man. She alleged that the roommate would grope her, stalk her and sexually harass her.“Every morning, the accused would hide behind a door and stare at me.

It was a traumatising experience. At times, he would come close to me and try to touch me inappropriately,” she stated in her complaint.She further alleged that, in the absence of her boyfriend, the accused once approached her half-naked, touched her inappropriately and made sexual advances. The incident was allegedly interrupted when her boyfriend returned and intervened. After the ordeal, she returned to the Netherlands and informed officials at the Dutch Embassy. On July 23, she returned to Hyderabad and lodged a complaint.Police said the accused, a software professional employed by a private company, is absconding. A case has been registered against him under Sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking) and 79 (words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman or intrude upon her privacy) of the BNS.
