Pune: Ravet police are searching for a woman from Chinchwad who duped two acquaintances of Rs 7.50 lakh by promising to secure govt jobs for them.A woman from Kiwale has lodged a complaint with the police. The Ravet police have registered a case under Sections 318 (cheating) and 316 (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the absconding woman.An officer from the Ravet police said that the complainant and the accused knew each other. The accused told the complainant that she had good contacts and would help her secure a govt job. She promised her a job as a junior clerk in the state prison department in Yerawada. “The accused used to take money from the complainant at different intervals by citing different reasons,” the officer said.He said that the accused also promised a job of a sales tax inspector to the complainant’s friend and started taking money from her. “Between 2021 and 2025, the accused collectively took Rs 7.50 lakh from both the women,” he said.The officer said that when the women did not get the jobs, they started pursuing the accused for their money. Despite repeated follow-ups, when they did not get their money, they approached the police and lodged a complaint. “Our investigations are on,” the officer said.
