Gurgaon: A 52-year-old woman died after an unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle she was travelling on with her husband from behind and ran over her at Bilaspur Chowk on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-48) Tuesday. The driver fled from the spot after the accident.According to the complaint filed by the woman’s husband, Ved Prakash, he and his wife Pratibha were returning to their home in Dharuhera in Rewari from their daughter’s in-laws’ house in village Kasan here on their motorcycle. Ved Prakash suffered minor injuries in the collision, while Pratibha died at the spot.The husband told police that he could not see the registration number of the vehicle or identify its driver. He submitted a written complaint seeking action against the unidentified driver. After receiving information about the accident, cops reached the spot.Police found Pratibha’s body lying at the spot along with the damaged motorcycle. Cops shifted the body to a mortuary for an autopsy. The damaged motorcycle was also taken into police custody.A case has been registered under Sections 125 (rash or negligent act that endangers human life or the personal safety of others), 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Bilaspur police station.The accused is at large and the vehicle number is not known. Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and efforts are underway to identify the vehicle and its driver.
