Surat: An Ahmedabad man has been booked for allegedly pronouncing triple talaq on his wife less than a year after their marriage, following a minor disagreement at her parental home in Surat.The accused later allegedly sent her videos showing her clothes being burnt and threatened to destroy the rest of her belongings.Salabatpura police have registered a case against the accused,According to the complaint, the couple got married on May 25 last year in Surat and the woman moved to Ahmedabad to live with her husband. However, within a few months, the man allegedly began harassing and physically assaulting her over trivial issues.On May 21, the woman received news that her cousin’s husband died. She and her husband travelled to Surat to attend the funeral.‘After the funeral the following day, the husband informed her at her parents’ house that he was leaving for Ahmedabad. The woman requested him to spend a few more hours with her family and leave in the evening.The request reportedly triggered an argument, during which the husband insisted that she accompany him immediately. As family members intervened and asked him to calm down, the accused allegedly pronounced triple talaq and left for Ahmedabad.Later that night, at around 11.30 pm, the woman received two videos from her husband. In one of them, he was allegedly seen tearing up her clothes and setting them on fire. He also threatened to destroy the rest of her belongings if she did not collect them.Salabatpura police have launched an investigation into the case.
