Woman accused of plotting mother's murder for property, govt job may also have link to father's death
Accused’s maternal uncle now seeks a probe into her father’s suspicious death

JAIPUR: Days afer a 23-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly conspiring to kill her mother over property and a government job, fresh allegations have surfaced against her, with her maternal family demanding an investigation into the death of her father and claiming that the same conspiracy may have extended beyond the recent murder case.Police said they have received a complaint seeking a probe into the allegations and that the matter will be examined by the competent authority.Seven people, including the woman, Ayushi Sharma, and her paternal uncle Mohan Swaroop (56), have been arrested in connection with the case, while Mohan’s son, Balram Sharma, remains absconding.Ayushi’s mother, Neeraj Sharma (45), a resident of Ravindra Nagar in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area, died on July 3 after she was allegedly run over by a speeding Scorpio. Her maternal uncle, Rakesh Sharma, has now approached the police, seeking a wider investigation into the case.He alleged that the main accused, Balram Sharma, has not yet been arrested and claimed that money allegedly paid for the contract killing is yet to be recovered. He also alleged that the conspiracy was driven by a dispute over property worth around Rs 14-15 crore.Rakesh further questioned the circumstances surrounding the death of his brother-in-law, Vijay Kumar Sharma, alleging that Ayushi and Balram had kept him at an undisclosed location for nearly three months after he was discharged from hospital.“From December till April last year, he was kept hidden. When I finally contacted doctors, they said his condition was critical, lungs filled with fluid, severe liver damage and heart blockage. If police investigate properly, it will come out that Ayushi and Balram had a role in his death as well,” he alleged.Advocate Chandra Prakash Sharma also raised similar concerns, alleging that Ayushi wanted control of family assets and sought a compassionate government appointment.“The property involved is worth around Rs 14 crore, including agricultural land and plots. She wanted to take over both the property and the job. She did not want her mother to continue working,” the advocate said.He further claimed that Vijay Kumar Sharma, who had earlier been undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, had shown signs of recovery before being discharged and shifted to an unknown rented accommodation.“When he was later admitted again, doctors said his body was severely deteriorated. Within two days, he died under highly suspicious circumstances. Proper treatment and prescribed medicines were not given,” he alleged, holding Ayushi responsible.Responding to the allegations, deputy commissioner of police Ranjeeta Sharma said police would examine all aspects of the complaint.“The complainant has submitted a representation. All the points raised will be investigated in detail. The search for the main accused is ongoing and he will be arrested soon,” she said.On the demand for an inquiry into Vijay Kumar Sharma’s death, the officer said, “The family has sought an inquiry into that as well. The matter will be examined by the competent authority.”Police officials indicated that the case involves an ongoing property dispute and disagreements within the family, along with issues related to compassionate appointment, which may have contributed to the alleged conspiracy.Investigators said Neeraj Sharma had secured a clerical job in court on compassionate grounds following the death of her husband about a year ago.According to police, Ayushi allegedly wanted the government job for herself.Rakesh Sharma said, “I have requested DCP Ranjeeta Sharma that the main accused Balram Sharma is still absconding and the money paid for the contract killing has not been recovered so far. Other accused, including those who occupied the house, have also not been arrested yet.”Further investigation in the case is underway.(With PTI inputs)
