New Delhi: Over 2.7 lakh candidates have signed up for undergraduate admissions at Delhi University this year.Of the total 2,73,751 sign-ups, 2,18,284 candidates completed the registration process, while 2,06,835 went on to submit their programme and college preferences.Women outnumbered men among candidates who completed registration, with 1,20,509 female candidates compared with 97,775 male candidates. Women thus accounted for more than 55% of the 2.18 lakh completed registrations.According to university data, among the programmes drawing candidate preferences were some of the university’s most sought-after courses, including BCom (Hons), BCom, BA (Hons) English, BA (Hons) Political Science, BA Programme with History and Political Science, BA (Hons) History, BSc (Hons) Zoology, BSc (Hons) Mathematics, BSc Programme in Life Science and BA (Hons) Economics.Once the simulated ranks are declared, candidates may get an indication of their position based on their CUET scores and the preferences submitted by them. Following the declaration of simulated ranks, candidates will be allowed to modify their programme-college preferences until 4.59 pm Monday.University officials said the simulated-rank stage is important as it gives applicants a final opportunity to reassess the order of their preferences before the actual seat-allocation process begins. Officials, however, stressed that simulated ranks are indicative and do not constitute a guarantee of admission to a particular programme or college. The actual allocation of seats will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s CUET score, category, programme-specific eligibility, the order of preferences submitted and the availability of seats.The preference-filling stage is particularly significant under DU’s CSAS mechanism because seat allocation is based on a candidate’s CUET score, category, programme-specific eligibility, seat availability and the programme-college combinations submitted in the order of preference. Once the window closes, the submitted preferences will form the basis for subsequent seat allocations.DU will announce its first seat allocation list on July 16 at 5 pm, bringing an end to the anxious wait for thousands of undergraduate aspirants seeking admission this year. Candidates allotted seats in the first round will have until July 18 to accept them, while colleges can verify applications until July 20. The deadline for payment of admission fees under the first round is July 21.The second allocation list will be released on July 25, with candidates given until July 28 to complete fee payment for the round.This year, Delhi University is offering admission to 73 undergraduate programmes and 150 BA programme combinations through the CSAS portal on the basis of CUET-UG 2026 scores.
