Will raise issue of corrupt joining TVK in appropriate forum: TNCC chief

Chennai: TNCC president Manickam Tagore said on Monday that he will raise the issue of corrupt people joining TVK in an appropriate forum and not in public.Speaking to reporters after the TNCC executive council meeting at the party headquarters, Tagore said Congress follows coalition ethics, and hence it wouldn’t speak about activities of coalition parties in public.“It is up to the party (TVK) to decide (whether to accept or refuse corrupt persons in their party). We (Congress) are alliance partners, and we always follow coalition ethics. We will raise the issue at the appropriate forum at the right time,” Tagore said. When asked about the petition filed in Madras high court on the issue of corruption in the appointment of govt prosecutors, Tagore said let the court make a call.Earlier, the EC passed a resolution against Karnataka’s plan to build a dam at Mekedatu, saying it was in violation of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal’s final award and a 2018 Supreme Court judgement. The move amounted to contempt of court, TNCC said, vowing to intensify its protest. It was also decided that the birth anniversary of former CM K Kamaraj, falling on July 15, will be celebrated for a week with the motto of eradicating corruption.
