West Asia crisis: UP CM Yogi Adityanath calls for national unity, energy conservation and self‑reliance

LUCKNOW: At the 9 Defining Years of Transformation Conclave in Lucknow, chief minister Yogi Adityanath flagged the unfolding crisis in West Asia as a major global challenge that could have serious implications for India and the world.Drawing parallels with the COVID‑19 pandemic, the CM warned that geopolitical tensions in the region may trigger fuel, food and fertiliser shortages, impacting economies far beyond the conflict zone.He stressed that while COVID‑19 was a global disaster, largely a natural calamity, the current West Asia situation represents a man‑made crisis. “The world is staring at a potential energy crisis, food crisis and fertiliser crisis,” he said, noting that such disruptions require collective preparedness rather than political point‑scoring.Yogi Adityanath underlined the need for national unity in times of global uncertainty and appealed to citizens to respond responsibly to the Prime Minister’s repeated calls for energy conservation and self‑reliance. He urged people to avoid selective or premature criticism of the Centre’s appeals, saying national issues must rise above partisan debate. The Chief Minister highlighted that India must reduce its dependence on external energy sources by promoting renewable energy, public transport, electric vehicles and alternative fuel models. Referring specifically to Uttar Pradesh, he said the state could address LPG dependency by expanding PNG connections in urban areas and promoting sustainable solutions in rural regions. He proposed innovative, community‑driven models such as installing biogas plants near cow shelters (gaushalas) to support collective village kitchens, reduce fuel consumption and protect the environment. Yogi Adityanath described this as both an economic and environmental solution that could be replicated nationwide.Calling the present situation a test of collective responsibility, the CM said, “When the nation is secure, citizens are secure. When the nation is prosperous, everyone prospers.” He emphasised that every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding national interests during global crises.Concluding his remarks on the West Asia situation, Yogi Adityanath appealed for restraint, informed discussion and constructive action. “Criticism may have space in politics, but when it is a matter of national interest, we must think together, discuss calmly and act in the interest of the country,” he said.
