NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in several parts of India on Saturday, with Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttarakhand among the areas likely to see heavy showers.Isolated very heavy rainfall is also possible over east Madhya Pradesh.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of the country, while strong surface winds are expected over parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
IMD alert for Saturday
The IMD has forecast heavy rain at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Punjab, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Uttarakhand.East Madhya Pradesh may also see isolated very heavy rainfall.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Thunderstorms with lightning are also possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Uttarakhand.
Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow
Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also possible over parts of the region.
North India under heavy rain alert
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive heavy rain on Saturday. Uttarakhand is also likely to see heavy rain, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in isolated areas.Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are expected to see heavy rainfall through Saturday, while Uttarakhand is likely to remain wet through August 27.
Uttar Pradesh and central India forecast
West Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive rain on Saturday, while east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are expected to see widespread rainfall.East Madhya Pradesh may receive heavy to very heavy rain, with isolated very heavy rainfall possible on Saturday. West Madhya Pradesh is also likely to receive heavy rain.
Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha weather
Bihar is likely to receive heavy rain on Saturday, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds also possible.Jharkhand is likely to see rain, while Odisha may receive heavy rain. The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over parts of Jharkhand and Odisha.
Northeast under rain watch
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy rain. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to see heavy showers.Thunderstorms and lightning are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
West India forecast
Konkan and Goa are likely to continue receiving widespread rainfall.Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to see scattered rain. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also possible over parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
South India rain forecast
Parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive rain.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are possible over Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Parts of coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka may also see gusty winds.

Rainfall is expected to remain active across several parts of the country over the coming days, with widespread rain forecast over parts of central, eastern, northeastern and western India.
IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days
The IMD expects rainfall activity to continue across several parts of the country through August 27.Heavy rain is likely to persist over parts of the Himalayan region, central and eastern India, the Northeast and Odisha, while Konkan, Goa and parts of south India are also expected to remain wet.Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh are among the areas expected to see continued rainfall over the next few days, while Odisha is likely to see heavy rain again from Monday.
