Villagers storm TMC neta’s house in Amta

Howrah: Villagers vandalised the house of a Trinamool panchayat chief in Howrah’s Amta on Sunday, accusing her and her husband of siphoning off funds from multiple govt schemes for months. Around 200 villagers, armed with sticks, stormed the residence of Anjali Dolui, damaging property and setting fire to furniture, clothes and documents.Villagers Nazneen Begum and Rathin Mondal accused Dolui and her husband of taking bribes for 100-day work schemes and embezzling funds. Joypur police arrived at the scene and called a fire engine.Dolui and her husband fled before the mob reached the house. Howrah Rural Trinamool president Arunava Sen saidm “Anjali and her husband would have been killed if they hadn’t escaped.” Police registered multiple charges against the couple, including fraud.
