Bhilwara: A video showing villagers thrashing a former sarpanch, making him remove his clothes and cutting his hair after accusing him of theft in Tonk district’s Raipuriya village went viral on social media Wednesday.The incident took place on July 5 in the Nagarfort police station area when the former sarpanch, a resident of a village on the Bundi-Tonk border, was allegedly caught while trying to steal a motorcycle from a house.According to villagers, the accused previously faced allegations of involvement in several theft cases and was caught on multiple occasions.During a search of the accused, villagers allegedly recovered a knife from his possession. Police subsequently arrested him and sent him to judicial custody.Police said the accused was also caught a few days earlier while allegedly committing a theft in Kolaheda village in Bundi district’s Nainwan area, where villagers tied him up with ropes and beat him.Nagarfort police are investigating the matter.
