Varasgaon, Panshet receive over 60mm each of rain
The city has been experiencing showers leading to waterlogging and roads getting washed out, despite the civic body’s repeated assurances that Pune is rain-ready

Pune: The Panshet, Varasgaon and Temghar dams recorded continuous spells of rain on Friday — 60mm, 60mm and 45mm. respectively — leading to a further rise in water storage.The irrigation department said heavy spells continued late into the evening in the catchment areas of the dams that supply water to Pune city.On Friday evening, the collective water stock had gone up to 4.18 TMC in the four dams of the Khadakwasla circle. Temghar, Varasgaon and Panshet dams have received over 250mm rainfall, so far, since the beginning of June. Over 150mm of rainfall was recorded just over the last four days.On Friday, among other major dams around Pune, Mulshi recorded 50mm rain and Pavana, which supplies water to Pimpri Chinchwad, recorded 40mm. The Nira Devghar dam received 76mm rainfall — highest among the key dams in the district.Irrigation department officials said the water stock in all major dams was still to reach even the 25% mark. The live storage was way below last year’s on the same day. In 2025, the collective storage in four dams of the Khadakwasla circle on July3 had reached 16.4 TMC, while overall storage of dams in the division had climbed to 50%.
