Varanasi: UP has prepared a major plan for renovation, repair, restoration and reconstruction of 25 govt primary and secondary schools in Varanasi district, at a cost of approximately Rs 25 crore. The tender process will soon be initiated by the executing agency and work will be carried out by Northern Coalfields Ltd from their corporate social responsibility fund. Chief development officer Prakhar Kumar Singh said buildings of primary schools will be given a new form through construction, while in schools lacking basic facilities, development of necessary resources will be undertaken. Special attention will be given to facilities such as modernisation of classrooms, toilets, drinking water, electricity, furniture and smart classes, so that students can get a better and more conducive learning environment. In addition, repair and restoration work will be carried out in 19 govt secondary schools. Objective of the govt is not limited to building construction, but also to improving the quality of education. In schools equipped with modern facilities, the attendance of students will increase and dropout rate will decrease. At the same time, children of rural and backward areas will also be able to get urban-level education facilities.
