Guwahati: University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) marked World Ozone Day 2026 with an academic and outreach programme themed “From Science to Global Action.”Organised by the department of chemistry, the programme included a quiz, a lecture on the ozone layer and the Montreal Protocol, a video demonstration on ozone protection, and an awareness rally carrying the message, “Heal the Ozone Layer, Heal the Earth.” Students from USTM and nearby schools participated.The afternoon session focused on careers through competitive exams and higher education. IIT-Guwahati professor Mohd Qureshi delivered the keynote address, “Beyond the Classroom: Building a Career in Science through Competitive Examination.”Qureshi urged students to strengthen their academic foundations, develop conceptual clarity and adopt a strategic approach to competitive exams. The session also covered career planning, higher studies and opportunities in science.
