Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana on Sunday appealed to all political parties to extend positive cooperation for the smooth, dignified conduct of the monsoon session beginning Monday. Presiding over an all-party meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, Mahana said the time and energy of elected representatives should be used to create an environment that supports the state’s growth through productive debate and discussion.Calling the Assembly the highest forum for democratic discourse, he said uninterrupted proceedings would enable every member to place their views before the House. He urged legislators to maintain restraint, decorum and dignity in keeping with democratic values and the rules of the Vidhan Sabha, so that discussions remain meaningful and orderly.Mahana said the Assembly had functioned successfully over the past four-and-a-half years due to cooperation across party lines. He expressed confidence that members from both the treasury benches and the opposition would again help uphold the dignity of the House, maintain harmony and ensure a constructive atmosphere throughout the session.Emphasising parliamentary traditions, Speaker said democracy is strengthened when both ruling and opposition parties participate fully and responsibly. He said members should focus on issues of public interest through serious debate while preserving the dignity of the legislature.The four-day sitting is expected to take up key legislative and financial business. The House will also witness its first full rendition of “Vande Mataram” during the session.
