UP to get 500 acre ‘Japan City’ along Yamuna Expressway
Yogi attended UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi from Lucknow

Noida: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday laid stress on UP’s emergence as a “major investment hub”, supported by an extensive network of expressways, airports, industrial corridors, logistics infrastructure and seamless connectivity.The UP CM — while speaking at UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi — invited Japanese companies to “become active partners” in the state’s growth story and contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.Yogi, who attended the programme from Lucknow, announced the development of a dedicated “Japanese City” over approximately 500 acres in Sector 5A of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).The proposed township will provide a comprehensive industrial, commercial and residential ecosystem for Japanese companies and citizens.The investment meet was attended by over 200 Japanese CEOs, managing directors, country heads and senior industry representatives, with the objective of strengthening economic, industrial and technological cooperation between UP and Japan.He laid the foundation of Escorts Kubota Limited’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Sector 10 and Spark Minda Group’s manufacturing projects located in Sectors 10 and 24 of YEIDA.A virtual groundbreaking ceremony was held for the manufacturing facility of Escorts Kubota Limited, which has been allotted 154 acres of land in Sector 10.The project entails an investment of approximately Rs 2,029 crore and is expected to generate around 4,000 employment opportunities.The facility will manufacture approximately 60,000 tractors annually along with a wide range of tractor and agricultural machinery components.The project is expected to strengthen UP’s position as a leading hub for agricultural machinery and engineering manufacturing.The event also witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony for Spark Minda Group’s manufacturing projects located in sectors 10 and 24 of YEIDA.With a total investment of approximately Rs 1,166 crore, the projects are expected to generate around 6,440 employment opportunities.The facilities will manufacture nearly two million units annually of electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers and other automotive electronic components.The investment will significantly strengthen the automotive and electronics manufacturing ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.CM identified green hydrogen, solar energy, electronics, medical devices, automotive manufacturing, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing as key sectors for future India-Japan collaboration.He reiterated UP govt’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure, skilled manpower and a business-friendly environment for investors.Union minister for railways, information & broadcasting and electronics & information technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union minister for agriculture & farmers welfare and rural development Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended the programme.
