The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to offer housing and healthcare benefits to victims of acid attack and women affected by triple talaq, reported PTI.The healthcare benefits under this initiative will be provided by linking the eligible women with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana alongside housing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.“On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women Welfare Department has started preparing guidelines and a Government Order (GO) for implementing the initiative. The department is collecting verified and detailed data of women affected by triple talaq, acid attacks and destitution to identify eligible beneficiaries,” the official statement stated.According to officials, the government wants to make sure that no qualified woman is denied access to welfare programs because of a lack of information or procedural issues. They noted that departmental cooperation is being developed for this goal. The action comes after the chief minister ordered that women who have experienced acid attacks or triple talaq and do not have permanent residence be given homes and healthcare benefits along with their families through government housing programs.According to officials, many women impacted by triple talaq experience social and financial instability, and survivors of acid attacks frequently need long-term medical treatment, surgeries, and rehabilitation.
