Silchar: An unidentified man, believed to be around 25, died after being hit by a train in Dima Hasao district on Monday, railway sources said on Tuesday.The incident took place between Mahur and Maigrendisa railway stations on the Lumding-Badarpur hill section, near railway km 92/4-5.According to railway officials, the man was allegedly trespassing on the tracks when Train No. 15617 UP Guwahati-Dullabcherra Express hit him. He died on the spot.Railway police personnel reached the site after being alerted and recovered the body. Officials said legal formalities were completed, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.Efforts are on to establish the man’s identity and inform his family. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident, officials said.Railway authorities urged people not to walk on or cross railway tracks except at designated points, saying trespassing can be fatal.
