New Delhi: A 21-year-old undertrial prisoner has alleged that he was assaulted inside the lock-up of the Saket Court Complex while awaiting his court appearance.In the FIR registered at Saket police station, Ankit, the undertrial, said the assault happened on July 10 when he was brought to the court complex from Tihar Jail for a hearing in another case. He was put in lock-up cell 6, he told police. Ankit said that another undertrial, Rakesh, with whom he had an old enmity, was also in the same cell.Ankit said in the FIR that Rakesh spoke to another inmate in the cell, gestured towards him and warned: “Watch your back.” After Rakesh was taken out of the lock-up to appear in court, the other inmate, identified as Sahil, allegedly punched and assaulted Ankit around 3 pm.Ankit told police that he did not know Sahil. He alleged that Sahil attacked him at Rakesh’s behest.According to the FIR, police personnel posted at the lock-up intervened and rescued Ankit. He was initially taken to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital and later sent to the AIIMS trauma centre for treatment.Police registered an FIR under Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 126 (wrongful restraint) of BNS.
