Hyderabad: Depressed over his inability to secure a job despite a master’s degree from a US university, a Hyderabad youth allegedly died by suicide in San Antonio, Texas, on Aug 21.According to family members and social media posts by the Indian community in the US, Sai Pradeep had been struggling to find employment for the past few months – since he completed his master’s in computer science from the Anderson University College of Business in South Carolina.He was reportedly dejected by his inability to find a job and weighed down by financial pressures.“In 2024, he came to the US. He recently finished his master’s degree and was looking for a job. During his time in the US, he learned Spanish, and we were all amazed by how quickly he picked up a new language—a reflection of his curiosity and eagerness to learn,” read a GoFundMe post created by his cousin Deepthi. She recalled that Pradeep was lovingly called ‘Deepu’ by friends and family. “His unexpected passing has left his parents, family, and loved ones with a loss that is difficult to put into words,” the post read.The fundraiser has been set up to repatriate Pradeep’s body to his home in Dammaiguda, Hyderabad, and meet funeral and other related expenses. It had raised more than USD 27,000 of its USD 35,000 target as of Monday. “Any funds remaining after the immediate arrangements will go toward supporting his parents and helping with their future needs,” Deepthi wrote.While TOI could not reach any family member in the city, social media posts by friends and Pradeep’s LinkedIn profile indicated that he had worked with Amazon in Hyderabad before moving to the US. Friends fondly recalled their time with him, describing the young man as “kind, respectful, professional and genuinely good-hearted”.His cousin, too, remembered him on the GoFundMe page for his “strength, determination, kindness, and love for life.”
