CHENNAI: LoP Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday called Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay a “dummy CM” and accused the TVK government of merely renaming and putting stickers on schemes introduced by the previous DMK government.“They came to power promising change and a clean, corruption-free govt. But what have they done? They have only changed the names of every scheme brought by our leader and put stickers on them. There is no other change,” Udhayanidhi said.Speaking at a meeting of the DMK’s north-zone lawyers’ wing, Udhayanidhi launched a scathing attack on the Vijay-led government, questioning its functioning and alleging that it was struggling to retain political support.“This new group that has somehow stumbled into power — there may be one or two jokers in a pack of cards, but here there are 52 jokers,” he said.Mocking the government’s ministers, he said people were unable to identify them by their names and knew several of them only by their nicknames.“Even today, people do not know who the ministers and MLAs are. Only when we mention their nicknames do people understand whom we are talking about. That is the situation in Tamil Nadu today,” he said.Udhayanidhi also accused the TVK government of targeting DMK MLAs and attempting to lure opposition legislators.“They came talking about change and cleanliness. But today, they have started filling their coffers. It is certain that they will be caught soon,” he said.
