Chaitanya.MarpakwarMumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will lead a protest at Dadar’s Shivaji Park on Sunday to back climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike. MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who has already extended his support to Wangchuk, may also join the protest with Uddhav. On Monday, Uddhav extended support to the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, calling it a “genuine movement for students” and urging all political parties to come together in support of the protesters. Uddhav also said Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, too, should visit Jantar Mantar and support the protesters. Uddhav said he would personally join the protest with Sonam Wangchuk if required and appealed to all political parties, including the Congress and even the BJP, to participate in the July 20 demonstration.“Shiv Sena (UBT) protest to support social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is fighting against the dictatorship of the (PM Narendra) Modi govt. Sena (UBT) has called for a protest to hold the ruthless BJP govt accountable for ignoring the just demands of the youth. The protest will be held on July 19 at Shivaji Park in Dadar,” a Sena (UBT) functionary said.On activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike and concerns over his health, Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, “… Tell the High Court to instruct the Prime Minister. And also instruct the govt to make whichever minister is responsible for the NEET paper leak resign and end this hunger strike. If our govt listened to the High Court and the Supreme Court, the entire character of the country would have changed. Now, on another note, it has been 20 days since Sonam Wangchuk started his hunger strike. Another girl sitting there — a 20-year-old — is also fasting with him. Her condition is extremely critical…”
