Two workers succumb to severe burns in factory blast

Palanpur: Two of the three workers who suffered severe burns in a fire triggered by a blast at an industrial unit near Palanpur succumbed to their injuries at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Friday.The incident occurred at a unit near Kanodar village in a unit extracting oil from castor.The deceased were identified as Vivek Ramdas (24) and Ravita, alias Anjali Paswan (21). Another worker, Raja Lalanram Das (20), remains in critical condition.Hasmukh Dhandhaliya, inspector, Palanpur Taluka police station, said, “Preliminary investigation reveals that a dust cloud was formed and this led to explosion. There was a spark in the conveyor belt which triggered the fire. There was no short-circuit”The flames spread rapidly, trapping workers inside the unit and leaving several of them with severe burn injuries.
