Ghaziabad: Two more key accused in the murder of a dairy farm owner in Loni two weeks ago were arrested on Friday, even as the deceased’s body remained untraced. More than 20 teams, including police, SDRF and flood teams of PAC, are continuing their search for the body along a 180-km distance of the Ganga canal in Ghaziabad, Noida, Baghpat, Aligarh, Hathras, Bulandshahr, Hapur and Meerut.Last week, two other key accused of the total five, were arrested. While Mohit, Gaurav, Saurabh and Gopal are now in custody, a second Gaurav is still on the run.On the morning of May 30, the five youths from Ganauli village — where the deceased also lived — had shot Omkar while he was going to collect fodder. They had subsequently loaded the body into their car and fled from the scene. According to police, they then went to Baghpat, bypassing the Hindon river, reached the Pithkhas bridge, went deeper into the jungle along the canal bank and dumped the deceased there. After their arrest, the accused had confirmed that they conspired to kill Omkar because of a road rage incident between Saurabh, one of the accused, and Omkar’s son, Devansh. Devansh had also filed a police complaint regarding the matter. The panchayat had tried to mediate between the two parties but during a meeting, Omkar had slapped Saurabh and his father. As revenge, the five planned to kill him.More than 20 people, apart from the accused, have also been arrested in the case, for sheltering the five youths.DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said around 50 divers are continuously carrying out checking operations at canals, drains and distributaries. Drones are also being used to access remote locations.“We are also coordinating with the District Crime Records Bureau and mortuaries to gather information about unidentified bodies found across the district. We have received information about 22 bodies so far but none of them are Omkar’s,” he said.
