Lucknow: Two people sustained minor injuries after branches of a tree fell on a road outside forest department headquarters in Narhi area on Saturday morning, disrupting traffic and damaging an electricity pole.The incident occurred around 8:30 am. A gig worker and a cyclist were trapped under the falling branches and sustained injuries. Both were taken to a private hospital where doctors said they were out of danger. Residents said the tree had been leaning or in a weak, dangerous state for a long time.An electricity pole near the site also collapsed. As a precaution, power supply was suspended in the area around the intersection on the road from Sikandarbagh towards the DGP residence.Traffic was also hit in the area for hours. With heavy morning traffic, commuters faced difficulties crossing the stretch. Movement remained slow as the fallen branches and damaged electricity infrastructure blocked the road.It took Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s horticulture department three hours to complete tree-cutting and road-clearance operations.Ganga Ram Gautam, a garden in charge, said the horticulture team promptly reached the site and began cutting and removing the tree to clear the road.
