Two held with MD in Ranip; case filed against supplier
The accused told police they had been buying from the supplier for two months

Ahmedabad: The city crime branch arrested two men with 1.4g of mephedrone during a late-night operation on Monday near New Ranip underpass. They also filed a case against an alleged supplier under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after the duo claimed they had procured the drug from him for personal consumption. An FIR was filed on Tuesday.The case was registered with the DCB police station on the complaint of police sub-inspector N B Rawal. According to the FIR, the Crime Branch received a tip-off at around 8pm on Aug 3 that two men carrying MD were waiting on a grey scooter near the underpass. A transparent zip-lock pouch containing a brown powder was recovered from the jeans pocket of one of the men. A field test conducted by an FSL officer confirmed it to be mephedrone. Police also seized two mobile phones, the scooter and a handwritten slip, taking the total value of seized property to Rs 1.04 lakh.The accused told police they had been sourcing the drug from a third man for the past two months. They claimed he delivered the latest consignment in a black SUV without a registration plate near the Ranip BRTS workshop on Monday evening, where they allegedly paid him in cash.
