Chandigarh: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit, has secured the conviction of two accused in a drugs case dating back to September 9, 2019.The Special Court Jalandhar on Tuesday convicted Akshinder Singh Sodhi and Amandeep Kumar under the provisions of the NDPS Act and sentenced both to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,00,000 each.The case originated from the seizure of 115 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of ephedrine, 80 grams of hashish oil and intoxicant capsules, leading investigators to unravel the operations of a larger international drug trafficking syndicate.“Investigation established that the trafficking network was being orchestrated by Amrinder Singh alias Laddi Chinna, a Canada-based drug trafficker, in conspiracy with his associates operating in India. The convicted accused played an active role in facilitating the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances as part of this transnational network,” the NCB said here on Wednesday.“The syndicate is presently under investigation in multiple NCB cases. Laddi Chinna has also been nominated as an accused in multiple narcotics cases registered by the Punjab Police, highlighting his continued involvement in organized drug trafficking,” the bureau further said.“Investigation against the absconding accused, Laddi Chinna, is continuing. During the course of further investigation, additional accused persons were arrested in 2026, and prosecution complaints against them are under preparation and will be filed before the competent court shortly,” it added.
