Palanpur: Two persons including a 15-year-old girl died and at least 15 other people were injured when a pick-up vehicle collided with a passenger van on the Dhanera highway in Banaskantha district early on Wednesday.Among the injured are seven children and several women, according to reports. Krishna (15) died on the spot while another victim, Jayesh Tankarvadia of Deesa taluka, succumbed during treatment, police said.All the injured were first taken to the Dhanera Referral Hospital, from where many were shifted to other hospitals for further treatment due to the severity of their injuries.Witnesses said the hospital premises were filled with heart-rending cries of injured women and children.The van was reportedly travelling from Deesa towards Rajasthan when the pickup vehicle rammed into it on the highway.Locals alleged that overcrowded private vehicles carrying far more passengers than their capacities frequently ply the route, increasing the risk of fatal accidents.
