Lucknow: Two constables posted at Kasya police station in Kushinagar were arrested for allegedly demanding money from a roadside eatery owner and abducting and molesting a woman.Superintendent of police, Kushinagar, Keshav Kumar has suspended both the personnel and initiated proceedings for their dismissal from service. The accused were identified as Umashankar Yadav and Mahendra.Pappu Singh, a resident of Gorakhpur Cantonment area who operates a roadside eatery in Kasya, alleged that on Monday evening, constable Umashankar Yadav asked him to come to Ram Janaki Temple Math.Singh claimed when he reached the spot, constables Umashankar and Mahendra and a police vehicle driver were waiting there. He alleged that Umashankar demanded money, and when he refused, they misbehaved with him.Singh claimed that the same night, the accused reached his second dhaba at Madapar in Gorakhpur where they assaulted the workers.Around 2 am, the accused allegedly reached Singh’s residence in Kasya, scaled the boundary wall and assaulted his family members. Two sisters living in the neighbourhood rushed to the family’s rescue but they were also assaulted.The complainant alleged that the accused forcibly took away one of the two sisters, aged 22, in their vehicle to Gorakhpur against her will and left her at her residence after three hours. She claimed that the constables molested her.Based on the complaint lodged by the woman’s sister, Kasya police lodged an FIR against constables under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to abduction, molestation, criminal intimidation, assault and house trespass.SP Keshav Kumar confirmed their arrest and said they had been placed under suspension with recommendations for their dismissal.
