Two cheated of 6.7L in overseas job scam

Rajkot: A 40-year-old woman filed a complaint at C Division police station in Jamnagar against three persons for allegedly cheating her and others of Rs 6.7 lakh on the pretext of securing jobs abroad and withholding their passports.According to the FIR, the woman, Ila, was looking for work to support her children after separating from her husband. Through family contacts, she and her brother Gautam were introduced to Nizam Sama and Rijwana Sora, who allegedly promised to arrange high-paying jobs in Russia for Rs 4 lakh per person.The victims later met the accused and handed over their passports to another accused, Rajendra Rajgor, at his house in Kedar Park, Jamnagar.The accused later claimed that visas for Armenia had been arranged and demanded Rs 50,000 more per person for flight tickets. In total, Rs 4.5 lakh was taken from the Ila’s family and Rs 2.2 lakh from another victim, Rana.When the promised visas were not delivered, the victims demanded a refund and the return of their passports. The accused allegedly evaded them, stopped responding to calls and eventually switched off their phones. Realizing they had been cheated, the victims approached police and lodged a complaint.Police registered a case under Sections 316(2), 318(4) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
