Two arrested for vehicle lifting, 9 stolen bikes recovered

Jaipur: Moti Dungri police and the District Special Team (DST) of Jaipur East arrested two persons for allegedly stealing nine bikes from various parts of the city. In the investigation so far it is found that the accused were into this crime in order to maintain a luxurious lifestyle.Following spurt in the number of bike theft incidents, teams were constituted and also police activated their informer’s network to crack previous cases of vehicle lifting.“After intense surveillance and some important tip off, we managed to detain two accused. Later, after interrogation our team managed to recover nine stolen bikes which were concealed at various places. Finally, the accused identified as Sansar alias Kala (22) and Monu alias Lal (20), were arrested. It is also found that the accused used to keep these stolen vehicles in abandoned rooms before selling them,” said a senior police officer.Police said the arrests were made as part of a special drive launched to curb the recent rise in vehicle thefts in Jaipur East.Adding further details into the arrests, Moti Dungri SHO Mohan Singh said that the accused used to roam around the city on their own motorcycle during the night and identify newly parked two-wheelers. “Later, they used to wait for an opportunity, break the locks and flee along with the motorcycles,” Singh added.The crackdown started following a complaint reported by Deependra Singh (24), from Tikaria village said to the police officer that his Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle had gone missing after being parked on 14th June at 4 am when his bike went missing from his parking area. He had registered a case at Moti Dungri Police station.Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.“The recovered motorcycles were identified through their engine and chassis numbers,” said an officer.Police believe that they are into interrogation of the accused and will try to find out if the accused are involved in similar cases of thefts in the city. “We are hopeful to get more recovery from them,” said an officer.
