Two arrested for theft at Borim Sai Baba temple get bail

Ponda: A Ponda court has granted conditional bail to Akshay Naik, 44, and Abhiraj Naik, 44, both residents of Borim, who were arrested by the Ponda police for allegedly trespassing and committing a theft at the Sai Baba temple at Borim in July.The two accused were among the 39 people against whom an FIR was filed for trespassing and theft at the temple.Temple committee president Dinesh Raikar said the accused had intimated him and other members of the theft at the temple.Raikar’s complaint also stated that despite the temporary injunction granted by the court that restrained the accused from interfering with the management and affairs of the temple trust, they tried to take control of the temple. They removed the door locks and replaced them with new ones.He said the accused also entered the main office of the temple committee by cutting the lock and allegedly stole two hard disks of the DVR of CCTV cameras.They were also accused of threatening Kallappa Patil and Manas Jyoti, both employed as clerks in the temple.
