Gurgaon: A 55-year-old man from UP died in a hit-and-run on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Pachgaon Chowk in Manesar on Thursday.Police on Friday registered an FIR against the unidentified driver of the vehicle and launched an investigation.The victim, Hemraj, a resident of Shahjahanpur, was travelling to Punjab for work with Kamlesh, a resident of Pilibhit, in a Tata Ultra pick-up truck to drop around 20 labourers at a site.In a complaint, Hemraj’s son, Ramji, said after their vehicle ran out of fuel near Pachgaon Chowk, Hemraj was walking towards the vehicle after arranging diesel from a nearby fuel station. At around 8.15 am, a white car allegedly struck him from behind while he was walking on the roadside.Kamlesh, who was accompanying him, noted the registration number of the vehicle as HR55AG0329. The driver left the spot after the collision, police said.A passer-by informed the police, following which officers reached the scene. Hemraj succumbed to his injuries.Police said information about the accident was received from ERV-260 at around 8.30 am on June 11. A team reached the spot near Shiv temple on the expressway and found that the victim had already been shifted to an ambulance.The victim’s family members were informed and reached Gurgaon the following day. Based on the complaint submitted by Ramji, Manesar police registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS.“I received a call from the cops around 12 pm on June 11 about my father’s accident. When I reached Gurgaon, I got to know about his demise, following which we got the body back to the native village after conducting the autopsy on Friday and performed his last rites,” Ramji told TOI. The victim is survived by two sons and his wife.Police said further investigation is under way to identify and trace the driver involved in the accident.
