Truck with Rs 35L illicit Haryana liquor seized
Police said the accused sold liquor meant for supply in Haryana at higher prices in UP, using fake bills to avoid detection

Noida: In a joint operation, the excise department and police seized a truck carrying 237 boxes of Haryana-marked liquor. The boxes worth Rs 35 lakh were in bottles of 750 ml, 375 ml, and 180 ml.Police said the accused sold liquor meant for supply in Haryana at higher prices in UP, using fake bills to avoid detection. The liquor was also being transported to Manipur via UP, Bihar, and West Bengal. A fake auto parts bill was also found with the accused.District excise officer Subodh Shrivastava said the truck driver, Lakharam, a resident of Barmer in Rajasthan, was arrested, and a case under Section 318(4) (cheating) of the BNS and the UP Excise Act was registered at Knowledge Park police station.An excise official said they received a tip-off that illicit liquor was being smuggled from Haryana to Manipur in a truck. Acting on the information, the excise team, along with police, stopped the truck for checking near Sharda roundabout in Greater Noida.Pravin Rajan Singh, DCP of Greater Noida, said that the liquor is worth around Rs 35 lakh, and the accused was using the fake auto parts bill to mislead transport, goods and services tax officials.A senior official said smugglers used multiple drivers who were unaware of the exact locations where the liquor was to be delivered. In this case, the driver revealed that he was on his way to Manipur.
