Ghaziabad: A truck carrying cans and buckets of paint overturned at Tigri roundabout on Thursday, spilling its load onto the road. The paint spillage made the carriageway slippery. Traffic movement was disrupted for a brief period as residents and passers-by gathered in the area to collect the paint. The truck was travelling from Greater Noida towards Ghaziabad. An eyewitness to the incident, Sanjeev Pal, said the incident occurred around 4.30am. He said the truck driver had allegedly tried to save the vehicle from colliding with a canter that was being driven in the wrong lane. “The truck’s wheel seems to have got stuck in a pothole and then it overturned,” he said.By 7 am, a crowd had gathered on the road. Shadab, a local vendor, said the whole neighbourhood had turned up. Several videos posted on X showed the stretch covered in paint, and people were mopping up paint from the road using rags. Some were seen filling cans with paint.Traffic was disrupted for a while until a head constable reached the spot and cleared the congestion. The truck was towed 200 m away from the point where the accident occurred. Ghaziabad traffic police wrote on its official X ID, “Due to a truck loaded with paint overturning on the route coming from Noida towards Tigri roundabout, paint has spilled onto the road, causing traffic congestion. The truck has been removed from the scene. Traffic police are present at the spot and are ensuring smooth traffic flow. Drivers should remain patient and follow the instructions of the traffic police.”Harveendar Yadav, a resident of the area, said several people had slipped and fallen on the road because of the spillage.
