Varanasi: A speeding truck rammed into a trailer parked along the NH near Vikas Bhawan in Chandauli district on Thursday morning, killing its driver on the spot and leaving the helper seriously injured.The deceased was identified as Raju Yadav (30), a resident of Kumhaura village under Dinara police station in Bihar’s Rohtas district. The injured helper, Golu Yadav (17), was rushed to the district hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.According to officials, the truck was travelling from Nyasi Ganj in Bihar towards Varanasi when it crashed into the stationary trailer near the Sadar development block. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the truck was completely mangled, trapping the driver inside the cabin.Hearing the collision, local residents rushed to the spot and informed the police. A team from Sadar Kotwali reached the site and pressed two cranes into service to separate the crushed cabin from the trailer. After nearly an hour of rescue efforts, the driver’s body was recovered.Traffic on the highway remained disrupted for some time following the accident.SHO Bindeshwar Prasad Pandey said the truck was on its way to Varanasi from Nyasi Ganj in Bihar. Preliminary investigation suggests the accident occurred after the speeding truck rammed into the parked trailer. A detailed probe is underway, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
